What Products Are Best For My Oily, Breakout Skin?

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

To help us with this post, here is an excerpt from our eBook:

“With oily skin your main concern will be to control oil production and avoid products that exacerbate this condition.

Along with oily skin, you may also be experiencing breakouts and clogging of pores. In this case, aside from controlling oil production, you will also need to treat the acne.

When the skin is not being exfoliated properly, it tends to create blockages in the oil secretions, due to the build-up of dead skin cells (also known as hyperkeratosis). This trapped oil does not get oxygen, and because the oil is stagnant, this causes bacteria to fester and blemishes to get infected, resulting in a pustule or white head. P.acne bacteria can only grow in an environment void of oxygen.

So, What is Your Course of Action?

Why The Dull Skin?

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Do you get to a certain part of the year where your skin looks dull, lifeless and just plain ol’ blah?

Where you feel the texture could improve, and….what’s that you just spotted?…

Fine lines that are beginning to appear! The horror!

The worst part is that no matter how much you hydrate and moisturize your skin, it doesn’t seem to help, so you go out and buy a more expensive cream. One that will surely work…right?

Maybe it’s the dark patch that appears when you’re pregnant or when you begin taking certain medication.

Can you relate to any of these?

Have you found yourself frustated at what seems like the sudden appearance of these darker spots or patches?

Any visible change in the skin pigmentation results from internal or external factors.

Let me give you a better idea of what we mean…

How Did These Brown Spots Appear Overnight?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

A lot of our clients with pigmentation problems (i.e. Brown/Sun Spots) want to know more about pigmentation, what it is and how and why it develops.

You don’t always want to be at the mercy of your dermatologist, esthetician or cosmetic sales person to tell you what you need, do you?

The problem is that the mechanism of pigmentation or “melagogenesis” is extremely complicated to explain and maybe somewhat boring for the average person that just wants to know how they can improve or correct it!

Remember: the skin is the second most complicated organ after the brain, and is a laboratory where thousands of chemical reactions are constantly happening.

However, understanding how this mechanism in our skin works is very important to then make educated decisions on what products will work best for you as well as which treatments make sense.

Don’t you want to know why those brown spots are occuring so you can correct it?
