What Skin Care Is Most Important To Take On Your Vacation?

So you begin a great exercise routine at the gym and in the beginning you immediately melt away the pounds.

But what happens after a few weeks of doing the same exercises?

You reach a plateau and you need to switch up the routine to move forward in your fitness.

The same happens with your skin care.

Have you noticed that in the beginning all your products seems to work great, but after awhile the results just aren’t the same?

By changing your products throughout the year (3 to 4 times), you maintain better results.

So when is a good time to switch up the routine?

Well, I can assure you that you must make a change when you go on vacation.

The skin is extrememly sensitive to the environment and general changes in lifestyle, which is ultimately what happens when you go on vacation.

The real question is:

What do you switch?

Here are a few tips:

  • Stop any exfoliating treatments, whether it’s Salicylic, Retinols and of course any retinoids (such as Retin A, Renova, Differin, etc.)

  • Glycolic Acids are okay in moderation.

  • If you’re fading pigmentation, stop any products with Hydroquinone (this is also a photo-sensitizer) and instead begin using more natural lightening ingredients such as Kojic Acid, Arbutin, Mulberry, Lemon/Citrics, Licorice Root, which lighten but without the irritation.

If you’re planning a beach vacation, we recommend to bring:

  • Cleanser and Toner

  • Serums loaded with antioxidants such as: Vitamins A, C and E, Idebenone, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), and CoQ-10

  • …as well as anti-inflammatory ingredients such as: Green Tea, Chamommile, Bisabolol.

If you’re planning a vacation in the mountains or where the climate is very dry, then we recommend:

  • Bringing plenty of good moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. Remember: hydration has to do with the water content in your skin and not oil.

  • Dry skins also need a good nourishing cream or treatment cream to be applied at night.

If you’re flying a long distance:

  • Remember to bring some moisturizer sample packets from the department store to have with you on board…you probably have a bunch stashed in a drawer somewhere you couldn’t figure out what to do with!

  • These are great for traveling and they help keep the moisture content in your skin during long flights.

  • You will also need your water bottle to keep internally hydrated, while the samples will keep your skin hydrated on the outside.

  • If your flight is during daylight hours, you MUST wear your sunblock. You are closer to all UV radiation from being thousands of feet up in the air!

Remember: glass doesn’t block UVA radiation…
