Motorcycle Must-Haves?
Hello everyone! Derma Diva Marcy here…I know we’ve been MIA for a bit, but I will have to take the fault for that!
I went to Orlando for a little while to visit old friends, family and to catch up on business with Derma Diva Rosa. Let me tell you; I now need a vacation from my ‘vacation’ (if you know what I mean)…but it was SO worth it!
Amidst all the madness, I actually got one day of ‘play’ and I just want to share with you that…I had my first ride on a Harley! (actually, my first ride on a motorcyle, ever!!) as a passenger, of course.
I have to admit, I was TERRIFIED at first, but let me tell you, I had a great driver and I felt totally comfortable in no time.
Not only did I enjoy an entire day of exploring beautiful parts of Florida that I never knew (and of course it didn’t hurt that my ‘driver’ was cute!), but I got some insight to skin care, and more specifically sun protection…surprise, surprise, right?
I had put on my regular dose of SPF as usual that morning, but forgot to apply extra to the back of my neck, arms, hands and toes. I was wearing semi-open toed shoes (it looked cute, but I wouldn’t recommend it as far as practicality goes!)
Let’s just say I got pretty burned (yes, I know….ME out of all people), but it just didn’t dawn on me until we were long-gone.
I felt so guilty for putting my skin through that, and I figured, how many activities are people going to be enjoying this vacation-time that half-way through will realize they just weren’t prepared for?
So with you in mind, I created a mini check-list of things to have on you at all times, regardless if you’re visiting theme parks, riding Harleys or jetskiing:
- A travel size of your sunblock. You can transfer some into a small plastic container you purchase at a drug store (remember the empty container you buy at a drug store, NOT the sunblock itself!)
- You can reinforce your protection on your face, neck and chest with one of the mineral blocks (it’s less messy than trying to reapply liquid sunblock.) Just use the liquid sunblock to reapply to shoulders, arms, hands, legs and feet.
- Water!!!
- Sunglasses (the larger they are, the better they protect the eyes)
- Travel-sized deodorant
- Protective lip-gloss or chapstick
I, myself will now be better prepared for my next ride…except this time I will be sure to pull all my hair back from the beginning so I don’t end up with a bird’s nest for hair…sexy, let me tell you…
Oh-well, live and learn.
To your skin’s health!
The Derma Divas.

I can understand that “vacation from vacation” - thanks for some great tips
I will make sure to pack those things in my bag when we go away this weekend!
